Ghosts for flute & harp

The mood of this music for flute and harp creates an atmosphere of mystery and wandering. The performers both play from the score – the flute’s music is lyrical, but restless, and the harp’s interactions include brief flourishes and unsettled harmonies. Are these Ghosts memories, reflections of past thoughts, now long forgotten? Or does the music contemplate the ephemeral nature of spirits, drifting?

Ghosts runs ca. 3:45 and was premiered 21 February 1985 on a concert of my music I produced at Christ & St. Stephen’s Church on West 69th Street in New York City. The players were Lisa LaCross, flute, and Christine Vivona, harp.
