Prelude, Dance and Fanfare for euphonium & tuba or 2 tubas
Running approximately six minutes, Prelude, Dance and Fanfare is a set of duets for euphonium and tuba or two tubas. This is a 1998 arrangement of Three Short Pieces for two horns which was composed in 1980 in New York City and slightly revised in 1996 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. In the Prelude, the melodic lines of the two instruments create a tapestry of lyrical counterpoint. Following this is a stately Dance which unfolds primarily as a canon between the two players. The Fanfare that ends the suite provides a rhythmic and energetic contrast to the proceeding two movements.
